Any information on falconers from the middle ages?
Right now in social studies, we're learning about the medieval times. Our teacher igned us each a job from that time period, such as the pope, knight, squire, baliff, etc. My job is a falconer, which is a person that trains falcons used by lords and ladies to hunt with. He also gave us a little worksheet that explained our role, but that was pretty much it. We have to do a project in which each person has to write a journal entry through the eyes of their character. My current problem is that there is very little information on falconers, like for example, while looking through the books my teacher checked out, there was absolutely NOTHING on falconers. I also went to the public library to see if there was any information on medieval falconers, but, like I already said, there was no information. All I know is that they train birds, create equipment for the lords participating in falconry, and accompany them during war. Where did they live? Did they live in a castle? Were they hired or bound to their lord? What was their rank on the social status? PLEASE HELP!! Thank you!!
