What does the triangular warning light with a circle around it on a BMW Z-4 dashboard stand for?

Actually, the Triangle has a verticle exclamation point inside the Traiangle. The light should come on when the ignition key is switched to "ON"; then it stays illuminated for 1 -2 seconds before switching off. If there is a problem with the malfunctioning device(s), the warning light may stay on, flash, or stay off, etc.
